About Us

Who Are the Friends?

Friends of Omaha Public Library (FOPL) is a private, nonprofit, grassroots volunteer organization dedicated to supporting and promoting Omaha Public Library (OPL). Friends are people, like you, who take pride in their library and through their memberships, advocacy efforts and volunteer services, raise funds and awareness to support the Omaha Public Library.

The Friends believe that public libraries are essential to our society and are the foundation of supporting lifelong learning in our communities. The Friends work in cooperation with the Library staff to inform the community about the excellent services and activities provided by the Omaha Public Library. Revenues raised through the Friends book sales support Library programs that would not be possible without the private funds from the Friends, The Omaha Library Foundation and other granting agencies.
