Holocaust survivor to speak at Omaha Public Library

Rachel Rosenberg, author of The Holocaust Scream, and coauthor Robert Urban will speak at Millard Branch, 13214 Westwood Ln., on Sunday, May 19, 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and participants will have the opportunity to meet the author, purchase her book and have it signed.

Rosenberg, an Omaha resident, will share her parts from her book, recounting the harrowing experience of surviving four Nazi concentration camps. At 14 years old, Rosenberg was thrust into a life of cruelty, destruction and death. She developed an instinct, drive and plan for survival under the worst conditions, and helped others survive. Rosenberg’s book reveals many parallels with the tragic story of Anne Frank. They were the same age during the Holocaust, had young love, typhus risk, lived in hidden attics and spent time in the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Both were victims/chroniclers of the Holocaust or Shoah. Rosenberg survived to tell us about her experiences and the aftermath of the Holocaust. Born in Wolanow, Poland, Rosenberg and her family came to Omaha, Neb., after liberation from the Nazi camps. Starting over, she used her savvy, intelligence, endurance and social skills to become an American success story. Rosenberg offers advice for those enduring terrible experiences and starting out at the bottom. For more information about the author and her book, visit theholocaustscream.com.
