Donate Books & Materials
Friends of Omaha Public Library accepts donations of books and other media that are sold through our book sales to help fund programs, services, and resources at Omaha Public Library.
Donated materials come from the community and from items removed from the library's collection, and every donation helps support lifelong learning across Omaha.
What Items to Donate
We accept new or gently used items that can be resold through our book sales.
Accepted items include:
- Books (all genres)
- Audiobooks on CD
- DVDs and Blu-ray discs
- Music CDs
- Puzzles
- Board games
Donate what you would buy yourself.
What Not to Donate
- Damaged, dirty, or moldy books
- Encyclopedias
- Textbooks more than five years old
- Magazines
- Workbooks or puzzle books
- VHS or cassette tapes
- Reader's Digest condensed books
- Clothing jewelry or home goods
- Toys
- Video games
Where to Donate Items
Books and materials can be dropped off Tuesday mornings at Swanson Library, lower level, or during Used Book Sales events.
Tax Information
Friends of Omaha Public Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donors may receive a tax receipt for in-kind donations.
Your donation may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
We do not provide appraisals.
